There are a part of society who believe that learning English at school is more important than learning local languages. Also, others suppose that if these languages are not taught, there is a risk for many of them to disappear. From my point of view, learning English is significant to learn for everyone, but we also need to preserve local languages.
On the one hand, learning English is vital for peoplebecause it can help us have a good job. In the intergrating society, there are a lot of multinational companies. These companies usually require employees who have more languages rather than only the mother language and most of these companies prefer people who can speak English because English is considered the language which is used all over the word. By the way, working at these companies usuallu can get the competitive salary. As a result, they can more opportunies to have a well-paid job which can helps them to have a better life. For example, if there are two people who have the same ability, qualification, they apply for the same company, but one of them only can speak a mother language and one can speak English, the company will choose the person who can speak English.
On the other hand, it is important to preserve the local languages because the local languages are the basics of a country. The local languages symbolize for the history, the culture of a country which form this country and develop it. When these local languages are disapear, it also means that this country lose their own unique feature and it can be dissolved in other countries, other cultures easily. To illustrate this opinion, there is an example. Every country in the world has its own traditional thing and in Vietnam have a traditional costume Ao dai. If we imagine traditional things are no longer used or changed too much to make it keep up with the fashion and for instance Ao dai, it will not keep the original beauty and meaning of it, it cannot be called Ao dai anymore and this country will lose it own unique beauty, unique costume. Therefore, we should have some solution to preserve the local languages. We can organise some activities which motivate people to speak local languages and teach others the language of their local or a competition which have the winner is the person who can understand the most of the local languages of his/her country.
To conclude, although learning English can bring a lot of advantage for people, we need to ensure the survival of local languages in some ways.
