Please review my IELTS essay

Staying updated on social affairs is one of the fundamental human requirements. Concerning that, it remains a perennial debate whether national or international news is more deserving of our concern. From my perspective, I opine that reading domestic articles seems to be more beneficial to people.

On the one hand, it is essential for the residents to keep up to date with what takes place around the world. First, it provides people with valuable information about novel aspects. Technological advances, namely AI and robots, space exploration and medical breakthroughs are usually unattainable to developing nations. Hence, those being inquisitive about such scientific matters have to visit foreign article reading sites to keep informed. Similarly, following foreign reports offer you a more profound and comprehensive view of global issues like the environment, namely melting ice caps as it does not occur in tropical regions. Secondly, pursuing articles about foreign countries enables you to be well-prepared for your overseas trips. Only by doing that could travelers equip themselves with useful information about weather conditions, traditional festivals, communication manners of the indigenous residents, thereby making corresponding and appropriate preparation for a wonderful and meaningful trip.

On the other hand, I do opine that keeping abreast of national affairs is of greater importance. Firstly, national current affairs exert direct impact on the citizens’ lives. Information about current trends in the job market, changes in commodity prices and social evils should be fully aware so that the populace could make corresponding adjustments to their career orientation, take better control of the family financial budget and raise alertness about their own safety. The breakout of COVID-19 pandemic is a testament to the importance of domestic reports as the populace need to pay attention to the latest news about the number of infected cases and new regulation from the government otherwise this epidemic is hardly combated. Secondly, taking notice of what occurs domestically offers a profound understanding of our national situations. Only by having sufficient information about presidential candidates in the upcoming election can the general populace cast a right vote for a scrupulous leader, which is an important decision affecting the development of the country and the benefits of themselves.
