Smartphones should be banned in the classroom. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is assumed that teachers should not allow students to use smartphones in class. From my point of view, I concur with this because phones distract students from learning and raise the possibility of them being cyberbullied.

To begin with, phones should be banned in class because they distract students from learning. Smartphones have a variety of interesting applications and websites that makes students get addicted and glued to their phone screen instead of their lectures. Moreover, phones sometimes have some notifications ringing during the lesson when students forget to turn off them, this can annoy the whole class and make them unable to pay attention to their lectures. As a result, these distractions from phones hinder students from concentrating on lessons, leading to poor academic performance in each examination.

On top of that, using smartphones in class can raise the possibility of students being cyberbullied. With phones at hand, students can easily catch the mistakes of other classmates like failed exams, makeup, haircut, photos, etc., then they share and post them on social media. This embarrasses other students and even worse they can commit suicide to escape from the shame. According to a recent survey, using phones to catch mistakes in class is the main factor contributing to the high rate of cyberbullying among youngsters in the last decade.

To sum up, I am sure that students are not allowed to bring phones to school owning to that they disturb students from studying and contribute to cyberbullying among them.
