In many countries, traditional foods are replaced by international fast foods. This has a negative effect on both families and societies. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is said that international fast foods are taking the place of traditional foods in many nations and this leads to detrimental impacts on both families and societies. From my point of view, I concur with this because it contributes to the breakdown of family bonds and has a negative effect on local culture.

To begin with, consuming fast food instead of sharing family meals contributes to the breakdown of family bonds. In the past several decades, people used to spend more time making traditional food and having a meal with family. But now they lead a busy and overworked lifestyle, even they eat fast food in lieu of eating together to save time. And this accidentally weakens the close relationship among family members.

On top of that, eating more international fast foods have a bad impact on local tradition and culture. It can be seen in several developing countries like The USA, and Japan, … where using international food has become more common than traditional products, and this is gradually eroding local people’s understanding of their own food traditions and contributing to the loss of culture. Meanwhile, culture reflects a people’s national identity, so the loss of tradition and culture is regarded as the disappearance of a country.

To sum up, I believe that in the current context of massive global integration, consuming international foods is inevitable, but dependence on this kind of food instead of traditional ones can have a negative impact on both families and societies.
