Nowadays, many people have access to computers and a large number of children enjoy playing video games. What are the advantages and disadvantages of playing video games for children?

Nowadays, video games are very common with everybody, especially children. Playing video games has an effect on the development of children. In my opinion, it has both advantages and disadvantages.
The first advantage is that video games help children to be more intelligent, and be able to read more quickly because when they play games,they need to focus on and think about how to be the winner. Furthermore, playing video games gives them opportunities to make friends and integrate with other children. In addition, it improves children’s creativity which is really important for their development.
However, video games also have negative effects on children. It can be seen that playing video games has disadvantages to their health. it impacts on their muscles, their bones, and their eyes. It occurs when they play games too long, their eyes and muscles have to work constantly without taking exercise - a reason why more children now are shortsighted. Moreover, children can be addicted to video games. They can have some negative emotions when they are forbidden to play games. Therefore, playing video games can affect their studies.
To sum up, there are good arguments on both sides. Although playing video games has some benefits of mental health, yet it also affects children's physical health. It is very important for parents to control them, and understand the advantages and disadvantages. It is also important for children to study how to use computers properly.
