Overall, it is clear that a neuron consists of six significant components and each of them has a different role in the neuron system.
Looking at the diagram more closely, one can see that there is a cell body or soma, lying in the center of the neuron the surrounded by many dendrites which are responsible for collecting messages from other cells. Furthermore, there is a long action potential that connects the cell body with terminal buttons. In the action potential, an electrical signal travels down a chain of axon, which then passes messages away from the cell body to other neurons, muscles or glands. In some neurons, myelin sheath is created to cover the axon and help speed neural impulses. Lastly, the neuron structure ends with terminal buttons that take a mission to form junctions with other cells.
