There has been a growing trend towards working from home thanks to the evolution of technology such as computers and modems. While some think that it should be encouraged in terms of distance working, I do not disagree with this idea.
There are various reasons why distance working does not bring benefits for work productivity. First, since there is no strict regulation, workers are required to have a high level of self-discipline in order to accomplish their work schedule appropriately. In fact, people must be frequently confronted with many distractions, such as mobile phones, social media, and children, which lowers concentration and causes poor performance. Second, unlike a dynamic office atmosphere, a low-energy surrounding environment at home is also attributed to decreased work productivity. Due to the lack of motivation and encouragement from colleagues, workers might feel disinterested, which leads to a loss of work enthusiasm.
On the other hand, using technology to work from home does more harm than good for the company. Firstly, this could be ascribed to break down colleague relationships, gradually resulting in poor corporate culture. This means that face-to-face communication is a primary factor in order to strengthen worker bonding, which facilitates effective cooperation. In addition, it is hard and inconvenient to manage workers online. Due to the lack of interaction, it is harder to maintain the team spirit as well as supervise workload, which impacts the work timetable.
In conclusion, I believe that working from home also has many benefits. However, it cannot underestimate the value of conventional working methods.
There has been a growing trend towards working from home thanks to the evolution of information technology such as computers and modems. While S ome think that it should be encouraged but I dis agree. Telecommuting is not good for the company in terms of productivity.
