In 2010, those who spent 2 hours on online multiplayer gaming, while multiplayer offline gaming, mobile gaming and solo console gaming were spent around 6 hours, 3 hours and 10 hours respectively. Over the following 4 years, there is no change in terms of online multiplayer gaming and multiplayer offline gaming hours two hours and six hours respectively, while the figures for solo console gaming fell slightly to approximately 8 hours. Should this trend continue, solo console gaming might collapse.
Between 2015 and 2018, a significant proportion of time was spent on mobile gaming, reaching the highest point at 10 hours and online multiplayer gaming climbed rapidly to about 5 hours in 2016. By contrast, there was a small drop of about 4 hours in the amount of time on solo console gaming and multiplayer offline gaming remained steady. In 2018, online multiplayer gaming was increasing considerably to 10 hours. Should technology continue to accelerate in this way, physical games may become obsolete.
