In many countries, children are learning online at home, while an increasing number of adults are working from home as well. This is because of the constantly advancing technology nowadays. From where I stand, this trend can have beneficial effects on how people work and study.
First and foremost, since technology comes into being on account of our demand for convenience, learning and working at home can make things easier for many people. With online working and studying, employees and students are able to do their jobs anywhere, anytime, without being prevented by distance or other surrounding factors. They can gain access to their workplaces or classes at the click of a button, work according to their own schedules and save time wasted in the traffic for more productive activities. This is the reason behind the growing trend of distance learning and working worldwide. Although it is true that people's progress can be obstructed by Internet connection, the pros outweigh the cons. In fact, working and studying from home has proved extremely advantageous when a large number of countries are implementing lockdowns owing to the rapid spread of Covid-19.
Second, online studying and working can bring about essential knowledge and skills. The most noticeable one is digital literacy, due to the growing application of technology in all respects of life. A person with more proficient computer skills can work with greater efficiency and stand higher chances of better career prospects. Apart from digital skills enhanced by frequent exposure to technology, employees and especially students can practise greater independence. Because of the limitation of supervising tasks of everyone in a virtual class or office, they have to practise independence so as to finish their work on time without reliance on other people's reminders.
In conclusion, working and studying from home generally results in benefits for all members of society. Therefore, this development should be encouraged and promoted.
