Topic: The chart below shows the results of a survey about people's coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

My essay:

The bar chart compares and contrasts data on people's preferences for buying and drinking coffee and tea in five different Australian cities.

Overall, the majority of people living in these cities went to a cafe in the last 4 weeks, with a notable exception of Adelaide where instant coffee was the most common choice. Fresh coffee was the least preferred option, as it had the lowest figures in all five cities.

In detail, the highest percentage of people going to a cafe for coffee or tea was recorded in Melbourne, at around 63%, followed closely by Sydney and Hobart (both at over 60%). In terms of buying instant coffee, Hobart was the city whose figure for this category was the highest, at under 55%, while that of Brisbane was only lower by a slight margin, at nearly 53%. Adelaide was the only city where its inhabitants preferred instant coffee to going to a cafe, and the percentages of people choosing these two options were at approximately 50% and 49%, respectively.

Although fresh coffee was the least common choice in all five Australian cities, there was only a small difference between figures for it and its instant counterpart in Sydney, at nearly 43% and 46%. The biggest gap between any two options was recorded in Hobart, as the rate of people going to a cafe was approximately 1.5 times higher than that of those who bought fresh coffee.
