Please review my IELTS essay

Topic:

Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective?

My essay:

Traffic and pollution from vehicles are growing problems in today's society. Numerous measures could be useful to solve these problems than rising in the price of petrol.

It is an undeniable fact that higher fuel costs are one of the good measures to limit drivers using their private cars or motorbikes, but it is not a long-term solution. For example, in Viet Nam, the number of private vehicles accounts for more than 85%, so it would be very unpopular with everyone who needs to travel on the roads. Therefore, there is a wide range of other effective measures that could be implemented to reduce traffic and pollution.

First, I am of the opinion that the government should raise awareness of citizens to use public transports such as buses, sky trains, metros to move on. A good example of this is that China- the most populous country in the world, has a perfect underground train system in almost all large metropolitans including Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai, and so on. It is really helpful to reduce traffic congestions and air, noise and light pollution.

Second, I think to address these problems that we need to create a new means of transport that uses environment-friendly energy such as solar, wind, and even hydroelectric power to generate electricity to use. For example, Aptera Motors Corp. is the first company to produce an electric vehicle that requires no charging for most daily use thanks to solar energy. It would be a more effective strategy for improving air quality in big cities.

In conclusion, I once again reaffirm that to solve these alarming problems, each individual in our community should have a sense of responsibility to use public transport more.
