Task 2: Some people say that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

It is often argued that music can create a connection between people, regardless of their age and culture. In my perspective, I agree because people may feel closer through enjoying music and it is a medium that allows people to understand each other’s betters.

I believe music can reduce the social distance between different generations. Music both expressed and arouses emotions in a way that words alone cannot. For instance, children might express their love for grandparents by playing a song over the phone. Parents can let their children know how much they love them by clapping their hands when they perform, and siblings can bond more when holding hands and singing together as a family. Furthermore, when families spend quality time together, they are likely to continue doing more family activities in the future and this leads to stronger relationships among family members.

In addition, music is an excellent way to break down cultural barriers. Music is considered a common language, allowing people to understand and connect. The reason is that even though listeners may not understand the lyrics written in a foreign language, they can still share the same emotions as sympathy or sadness when they have certain rhythms and melodies. Additionally, it cannot be denied that music is usually a reflection of the traditions and customs of the writer’s society. Therefore, attending musical performances by foreign musicians can assist the audience to learn about many cultural aspects of other countries such as lifestyle, traditions, and history.

To sum up, I donate to the view that music can bring people together irrespective of their ages and cultural origins.
