In some countries, an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In today’s world, people feel increasingly concerned about health issues due to their overconsuming of junk food. From my perspective, I strongly believe a higher tax on this unhealthy option will limit its consumption and improve public health because of two main reasons.

A major benefit of enacting higher tax legislation on fast food is an increase in the intake of healthier options. If a higher tax is required, fast food will be made unaffordable to poorer people and discourage them from consuming an excessive amount of these unhealthy foods. As a consequence, they will take other healthier foods into consideration, such as natural foods. Furthermore, fewer people consuming fast food is synonymous with that they may not have to worry about risk factors relating to this unhealthy option such as cardiovascular diseases and obesity.

Another advantage of this measure is that companies and businesses will gradually invest less in junk and processed food, which leads to a lack of money to manufacture and deliver this kind of food to citizens. Therefore, the amount of junk food produced would drop considerably and retailers can no longer import it to sell to customers. In the coming years, such no investment in fast food may put an end to its development then they might disappear among other foods which are heavily invested.

In conclusion, I believe that implementing higher tax on junk food may result in a marked decrease in public health challenges. If local leaders and citizens commit to obey this regulation then this problem can be tackled soon.
