Some people think that organizing international sports events is good for the host country while others think it is bad. Discuss both views and state your opinion
It is a common belief that a country organizing international sports events will get many disadvantages. However, there is a more persuasive argument that a country becoming a host of international sports events will gain enormous benefits.
On the one hand, international sports events require a great investment resource. In order to organize well and safely, a host has to invest a great amount of money into not only the high quality of facility for athletes’ performance but also the security system to prevent terrorists, who always aim to break down the international events. Otherwise, if that money is invested in poor people, it can help them significantly. For example, instead of investing such enormous money into hosting international sports events, that money will enhance and improve thousands of people’s lives.
On the other hand, hosting international sports events will bring to a country many advantages. First of all, all the mass media will concentrate on the host, thus, that country will become more popular and attract millions of people around the world. This will leads to a remarkable surge in popularity and finance. Moreover, if that country organizes well, it will be prestigious and acquire the belief of the world to organize international events in the next time. Therefore, the fame and the economy of a country will be more and more increased.
To sum up, while it is apparent that becoming a host for international sports events is bad, it is undeniable that the benefits it brings are enormous for a host and I am totally in favor of the latter point.
