Essay Topic:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Students are more influenced by their teachers than by their friends. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

My essay

Student life is the most important phase in everyone's life because every careful step leads to an individual successful career which reflects in the later stage of life. I think parents, teachers, and friends play a significant role in every stage of their development. Parents guide them on how to be responsible, teachers teach them to have a successful career, and friends guide their fellow ones by understanding their pressures. However, I believe that friends are most influential in a student's life than their teachers; because friends delve deeper understanding and endow moral support to their pals, which is why I don’t stand in favor of the statement.

First, friends have a strong emotional attachment and understanding, which helps the students more efficiently than anyone. The students spend most of their time with their friends. So, they get to know the pressure they are coping up with and the difficulty they were facing. To illustrate, I have a friend called Teja. During my graduation, I was facing difficulty with a medicinal chemistry subject and she knows how scared I was and hard for me to remember the chemical structures of drugs. She helped me to understand transparently and what steps I need to follow to excel and clear the exam. I practiced her steps and passed the exam. She was able to guide me because she in close contact with me than any of my teachers. Thus, friends know a lot about their close friends and more influential when compared to teachers.

Second, best friends provide moral support to their intimate friends in various ways such as during exams, life settlement, career choices, before job interviews, and low self-esteem. For instance, my husband Vijay suggested one of my friend Kishore in his love life. As Kishore's parents were not in favor of his love; my husband supported and advised him to talk to their parents directly, but not through a phone call. Moreover, my husband mentioned that Kishore should provide positive traits of the woman he likes and ask them to look for women with similar qualities. If it matches Kishore's requirement, then he had to agree with them and marry her. He followed the same steps as suggested by my husband; his parents were unable to find a woman of his requirements and finally married the woman of his choice. He was happy now. As a result, friends provide moral support and guide them, which leads to a colorful life than a teacher does.

In essence, I strongly believe that friends are the most influential characters in every student’s life because of the emotional bond they established and serve as a backbone during times of hardship or depression than their teacher.
