Animal species are becoming extinct as a result of human activities on land and in sea. Why has this happened? What's the solution?

Many terrestrial and marine animal species are in danger of extinction as result of actions of human. Identifying the reasons behind this issue is key to finding solutions.

There are several reasons why many animal species are on the brick of extinction. One of main reasons is pollution resulting human activites. For instance, aquatic life, such as coral reefs, are particularly sensitive to irresponsible behaviour as the dumping of toxic waste into oceans and rivers. Another reason is the environment degradation caused by deforestation and the industrialization of agriculture. Tigers in Indonesia, for example, rarely survive in the wild following the clearing of rainforests, and they are now protected in the designated wildlife reserves which they would have freedom to roam, to exhibit their natural behavior and to breed.

Nevetherless, there are also variety of solutions to reverse this problem. Firstly, investment in sanitation systems would help protect water sources on which humans and animals both depend to survive. This means that the marine environment must be cleaned up and international legislation strictly enforced to prevent actions such as the discharge of chemical waste into the sea. Secondly, in order to save species from extinction, the conservation role of zoos must be prioritized. Many zoos and safari parks, for example, now have succesful captive breeding programmes, including the giant panda is perhaps the most famous.

In conclusion, by taking steps to curb pollution and habitat destruction, humans are able to resolve this problem.
