Topic: Nowadays animals experiments are widely used to develop new medicines and to test the safety of other products. Some people argue that these experiments should be banned because it is morally wrong to cause animals to suffer, while others are in favor of them because of their benefits to humanity. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It is true that medicines and other products are routinely tested on animals before they are cleared for human use. While I tend towards the viewpoint that animal testing is morally wrong, I would have to support a limited amount of animal experimentation for the development of medicines.
On the one hand, some people argue that it is cruel to use animal experimentation for finding new drugs. They said that human do not have right to subject animals to this kind of trauma, and the lives of all creatures must be respected. Moreover, supporters of such ideas show that the differences in physiology, genetics and cell structures between human and animals so some medicines from using animal testing are incompatible. Therefore, researchers must find new alternative methods. For instance, HIV virus cause deadly for human but not to most laboratory animals so studying HIV in other species may not produce results.
On the other hand, some alternatives to animal testing may not always be available. In some cases, researchers should use laboratory mice or rats to explore new medicines or medical treatment if they can save one person's life. In addition, if a member in opponents of such research's families needed new drugs that had been developed through animal testing, they completely might feel differently. Therefore, researching on the body of animals is an unethical but it is a necessary evil which has to be done. However, just only in medical purposes, governments should ban animal testing for non-medical ones.
In conclusion, it seems to be wrong to ban animal experimentation for developing medical field until they find the best alternative methods.
