Many people think that the government should spend money on space exploration, while others think that it is a waste of public money. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Since the ever-increasing development of aerospace industry, there have been debates about whether government should allocate funds for space exploration or not. To my perspective, both views have advantages and disadvantages; hence, I will clarify and reason in this essay.

On one side of the argument, there are many reasons why money spent on space exploration is thought to be worth it. Firstly, with the development of global population, the earth is facing numerous problems such as environmental degradation and the depletion of natural resources. Therefore, focus on looking for planets that can support human life can be the solution to the earth’s growing population. Aside from seeking new shelter, many space exploration programs pave the way for advanced innovations that are used to address some of the problems that plague modern society. Take artificial satellite as a concrete example, it is used to help scientists forecast weather and natural disasters easier and more accurately. As a consequence, we can have a better preparation for evacuation, which reduces loss of people and property.

On the other hand, it is also possible to make the opposing view. It is undeniable that space discovery is extremely exorbitant. To be more specific, training astronauts, building rocket and space shuttle as well as loss from minor error in rehearsal text flight may cost a substantial amount of public money. While many people point out that low-class residents are suffering from hunger, illness and poverty. They argue that the government should invest money on healthcare, education, housing and other social program instead of space voyages. Furthermore, space expenditure not only is not ethical but also do not have a vague purpose. It is impossible to know that the tax paid for space investment is able to find new homeland and new resources or not.

In conclusion, space exploration is one of the biggest achievements as a whole. However, it can not be denied that it also has several drawbacks, which is why I recommend that other social programs should be taken priority over all space programs.
