Governments should invest in teaching science subjects rather than other subjects in order for a country to develop and progress. To what extent, do you agree or disagree?

It is a highly debatable topic of whether governments should allocate primarily funding to science subjects rather than others. It seems to me that although the study of science could bring huge benefits to the development of a country, other subjects still play important roles.

On the one hand, it is obvious that the investment of teaching scientific knowledge could have positive effects on the improvement of a country. Firstly, breakthroughs in technology, especially electronic device, could generate huge revenue for a country. For instance, the UK, which is one of the developed countries, has the latest leading-edge technology, which makes a huge contribution to generate enormous profits for the economy of this country. Secondly, it is clear that recent discoveries in science have been applied to bring significant changes in such fields as health, food, and education. For instance, advances in technology are applied in the process of finding treatment for the disease, such as cancer, to prolong humans' life span.

On the other hand, I believe that other subjects have their own benefits and should be placed on the same priority. Firstly, studying other subjects could enable students to become a well-rounded individual. Schools should encourage students to spend more time on learning the arts, which helps them develop imagination and language skills. Secondly, the study of other subjects could make a huge contribution to the preservation of traditional cultures. Through the lectures of history and geography, students could gain more knowledge of the traditions of the nation and the good characteristics of citizens. Furthermore, this can establish the national pride of every child.

In conclusion, in order to develop a country in a balanced manner, governments should provide funding for not only science subjects but also others.
