Ques:- Universities should accept equal number of males and females in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is often argued that same proportions of students from both genders should be accepted in every subject at Universities. I strongly disagree with this notion because performance and interest of students are the main factors which should be considered basis while accepting admissions in universities.

The predominant reason behind my argument is that the factors determining students ability are their achievements and performance in each subject. It does not depend upon whether a student is male or female. There are various learners who work hard from day to night to achieve desired scores. If, equal number of students are accepted by universities from both genders, there is high probability of not selecting deserving candidates. For instance, a University has 10 seats in Business Development Diploma, 5 each for males and females. If, men seats are full and one new candidate who is top scorer in the field get rejected only due to no vacancy. So, he will lose opportunity to study at that University. Therefore, it is necessary to give admissions according to the performance or rather than on the basis of the gender.

Apart from this, interest of students should be prioritised by universities. It has been observed that, boys are keen in physical education whereas girls prefer home science. In this case, boys' admissions should be accepted more in physical education as they are deserving and interested candidates. To exemplify, according to Indian Sports Federation report more than 60% of the total University students are boys in games. Hence, Universities should not accept equal students in every subject.

To conclude succinctly, universities should keep in mind the performance and interest of students during accepting them, not their genders.
