You have read the text below which is an extract from a magazine article on a lack of inspiring role models in public life. You decide to write a letter responding to the points raised and describing a person who has inspired you.
We are becoming a society of cynics, money-grabbers, people whose sole purpose in life is furthering self-interest. The sad truth is that there are no longer inspirational people among us; manipulation of the media and wealth creation have become paramount for those in public life. Most people just want an easy life; few take risk for the sake of others, or push for knowledge without anticipating financial reward. Where are the role models of today?
Dear Sir/Madam,
I recently read your article about lacking of today role models in your magazine, which although it seems to be true, since all arguments you noted are correct, I disagree with you. Honestly, I believe that there are role models in our days. To prove you my concept I will argue for Mr. Jason Brown, a friend of mine, who is a fireman.
Jason Brown is almost 45 years old. He is a family man with 2 kids and works as a fireman for more than 20 years. Since I know him, I can tell you that it was his dream to become a fireman when he was a little child. It is a very common job that every little kid wants to do when he will grow up, but as we all know only few of them choose it at last for many reason,mostly for threats you are exhibited such as fire, fumes, explosions, heights etc. However, Jason did as he told.
As far as I know Jason I have to tell you that he is very enthouastic about his job and when he is on duty he tries very hard for the best result. He has been sucrificed for saving other persons, or even animals, who were trapped by fire in buildings. Who doubts that it needs a lot of courage to do something like this? Jason denies himself or even worst he does not think for his own family when he rush into the flames. I pinpoint that despite his injuries, which are not serious fortunately for all of us, this fireman has managed to save a lot of lives until now and he does not discouraged.
I have to admit that Jason Brown is not known to public like Barrack Obama or Justin Timberlake, thus his actions cannot influence people as the aforementioned personalities. However, I really admire Jason because all of his actions are pure and genuine without seeking any financial reward. His reward is the thankfulness of the saved person. Many people here in the neighboor who know Jason respect him for his work.
I am sure that there are many "Jasons" out there that are not only interestred in their benefit. Search for them in police departments, fire departments, hospitals, social institutions or near to you. They do not have to be on your TV screen!
