Water pollution has been an increasing problem over the last few decades.
What causes water pollution?
How can we prevent this problem?
First essay
In recent years, water pollution has become one of the most serious global issues because it is posing a threat to people’s lives as well as animal species. This essay will discuss both relevant reasons and solutions.
On the one hand, there are several causes which lead to water pollution. Firstly, waste from factories is dumped into the environment without being properly treated. With the advancement of technology, more and more factories and workshops have been built to produce a variety of goods to meet people’s demands. However, some of them do not have proper waste management systems. To illustrate, Vedan company released untreated hazardous waste into Thi Vai River in 2008 which caused the death of many aquatic species like fish. The second reason is individuals litter irresponsibly. This means that local citizens often discharge domestic waste or harmful substances into the rivers or streams which are near where they live instead of putting them in proper places such as dustbins. As a result, these substances may pollute reservoirs which provide drinking water to human beings and animals.
On the other hand, there are some compelling solutions that should be considered. The first thing, the government should introduce laws to limit industrial waste. They need to examine waste proper management systems which are installed in factories and workshops to be sure hazardous substances are treated before dumping into the environment. In addition, they should raise people’s awareness about protecting the environment through educational programs or campaigns. Also, strict punishments should be imposed for people who discharge rubbish into the environment. For these solutions, I believe that water pollution will decrease in the near future.
In conclusion, with some causes and solutions mentioned above. It is undeniable that people have a significant impact on the environment, especially water pollution. Therefore, both the government and citizens should have a major responsibility to address this issue.
Second essay:
In many countries around the globe, water has become seriously polluted. This has raised many concerns for Governments to address this pressing issue. This essay will examine the main causes and possible solutions to this problem.
The main cause of the pollution of water is the lack of punishments to people who offend the water littering law. In some countries such as Vietnam and Thailand, there are no penalties for throwing litter and garbage into rivers and beaches. As a result, people who are not environmentally friendly will freely litter in water without any hesitation. To illustrate, in 2018, Kem Dau beach, which is a famous beach in Vietnam, has to close because the water did not meet the level of cleanliness required by the government. Tourists visited the beach and left lots of garbage on the water, which made the water polluted and turned into a dark green colour.
Some possible solutions to this problem are new stricter rules about water protection and raising public awareness. Firstly, governments need to enact new laws to impose stricter punishments on people who throw garbage on rivers and beaches. For example, they might have to pay a fine or get a criminal record. Secondly, more environmental campaigns and documentaries about water pollution need to be launched. This will give everybody a clearer understanding of the detrimental effects caused by water contamination.
In conclusion, water has become increasingly polluted due to the neglect of some governments towards environmental protection. Stricter laws must be enacted and people’s awareness must be enhanced in order to tackle this problem.
