In this age of omnipresent internet, it is a widely held belief that several means of communication such as television, radio, and newspapers have significantly influenced our perspective about the world. I totally agree with this view.
First, the mass media has long been regarded as a quick and effective way to gain information. With its presence around almost every corner of the world, mass media can provide people with the latest news every second. People watch TV every day, read newspapers every hour, and acquire most of the worldwide news through these means of communication. Moreover, people often have a tendency to trust this information as it is written by professional journalists and thoroughly checked and edited before being published. Therefore, as the observer and reporter of the truth, mass media has earned people's trust and, as a result, shaped the way people perceive all day-to-day matters.
Second, people’s opinions on certain subjects are greatly affected by what they see or hear on TV or in newspapers. To begin with, the mass media is molding our lifestyles and opinions through influencers. We are constantly being bombarded with adverts, news, trends and fashion, etc every hour. Therefore, people, especially teenagers, get captivated and try to imitate the way celebrities dress, behave and talk. Furthermore, mass media influence our outlook toward life. The various programs on radio or television give us knowledge about the world. For example, health programs provide us with the basic knowledge of diseases symptoms, traveling channel reveals the beauty and attraction of the world, thereby contribute to shaping our world view.
In conclusion, the fact that mass media has deeply affected our perspectives and thinking is undeniable. Whatever the impact, these platforms of communication have been doing a great job in informing and educating people about the world in which we are living.
