Question: Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female study in every subject. Do you agree or disagree?
These days, some people argue that universities should admit equality in all subjects in terms of the student numbers of each gender. Personally, I disagree with this viewpoint.
On the one hand, the enrollment of men and women in each subject should depend on their academic performances and overall abilities. In general, women are not more talent in science so they have little chance of competing against men in this field. What follows is in stem subjects, the schools are difficult to have the same number of students in each gender in these classes. Similarly, in the study of education, female shows a stronger ability than male. Many males do not have verbal skills or patience to become qualified teachers. Therefore, given the difference in their abilities, it is right t expect men and women to have separate academic pursuits.
On the other hand, there cannot be denied that certain jobs are gender-specific. In terms of some manual work like construction workers or firefighters, almost men who have well physical health can undertake these jobs. The opposite is true for other works like the nurse of the kindergarten teacher. Furthermore, universities should give freedom as to what subjects students would like to learn. It means the natural interests of both genders should be taken into consideration when we approach this issue instead of some unrealistic percentage quote.
In conclusion, I think universities should not accept equal numbers of men and women students in every subject. It is better to respects the students' choice to boost their academic performances and abilities.
