9 Some people think living in big cities is bad for people's health. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
As a result of urbanisation, the population density in big cities becomes more and more higher and the environment is increasingly polluted. Some people claim that living in big cities affects citizens' health in a negative way. I partly agree with these ones.
On the one hand, our health might be declined due to issues of urban area. First, individuals are exposed to environmental problems including both water and air pollution which is the consequences of economic growth without appropriate regulations to protect the surroundings. Research shows that air pollution in Hanoi, which is the capital of Vietnam, reaches an alarming level in 2016. Secondly, due to the large population, raisers use various kinds of chemicals in order to achieve high output to meet the food demand of the whole cities. Such residues are detrimental to our health and might cause cancer or other serious diseases.
On the other hand, there are also some health benefits of living in cities. First, citizens in directed - control municipalities can approach to public health services more easier than those who live in the rural area. For example, in my country, all high-quality special hospitals are built in cities which is administered by the central government, and people from the provincial area have to travel to these cities to take a medical examination if they want to detect serious diseases early. Besides, the health awareness campaigns and the movement of doing physical activities to improve health are more common in the cities. By participating in these movements, people can practice and gain better physical strength.
In conclusion, though people's health might be badly affected by the environment pollution and preservative substances from food, I think living in the city also has some positive effects on our health.
