Q: Overpopulation of urban areas has led to numerous problems. Identify one or two serious ones and suggest ways that governments and individuals can tackle these problems.

A: This century has seen a massive population explosion around the world, especially in cities, which undoubtedly causes serious problems to human life. This essay will address some of these issues and propose radical solutions for both governments and inhabitants.

One of the most obvious issues of overpopulation is increasing traffic jams. More urban dwellers also means a larger number of private vehicles likes cars, motorbikes, etc which is the main cause of congestion. This problem has a detrimental impact on different aspects of our life, such as air and noise pollution, increasing accidents. Another major problem is the rising amount of garbage from inhabitants. Due to bacteria and insects derived from waste, along with overcrowded living conditions, it poses a serious threat to not only the environment but also human health.

Therefore, it is essential that urgent actions should be taken to combat these issues. Governments should pay more attention to road design including roads, signs, traffic lights, etc to ensure residents a safe transport infrastructure. They also need to encourage people to use public transport more by improving the quality of buses and trains. Moreover, individuals can take actions to reduce the amount of rubbish by recycling, sorting, clearing, etc. They should take part in public organizations and raise other people’s awareness of the harmful effects of waste so that people can protect the environment together.

In conclusion, rapidly growing human population is a matter of concern to countries because of aforementioned problems. However, with the right action of authorities and individuals, this issue can be solved effectively soon.
