Computers are often argued to be the most important invention of the last hundred years. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

In the 19th century, Charlies designed the first computer and after several improvements in its functions, it quickly becomes one of the most useful tools ever in history. Some people claim that the most pivotal invention can be awarded for this electronic device. From my perspective, I partly agree with this opinion.

On the one hand, it is undeniable that the appearance of computer affects our daily life in a positive way. Using different applications on the computer, for example, the Microsoft Office is convenient for business. Instead of handwriting contract with different characters that are sometimes too difficult to read, we can use the automatic font on Microsoft Office Word that is clear for everyone to write contracts and print them to keep. Using Excel is an effective way for an accountant when he needs to administer the expense and investment of the company thanks to accuracy calculate function and user-friendly software interface.

On the other hand, I think there are several different discoveries that change our ways of life in the last hundred years. First, it would be a mistake if we don’t mention the internet which helps us connect to others easily. With a phone or a laptop which can access to the internet, we can text our acquaintance to arrange a meeting instead of having to meet them in person or sending letters that take days to arrive. Second, in the last century, scientists find out new drugs or therapies to cure people’ lives of epidemics and pandemics that had killed lots of people in the past such as smallpox or infection.

In conclusion, though computer is an important invention, I think there are diversified discoveries that we should account.
