Some people hold that we should spend amount of time and money on the protection of wild animals. Some people argue that they should be spent on human populations. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In our modern age, several problems of human populations including poverty or new epidemics and pandemics need to be addressed as soon as possible, whereas, animal extinction is also an important issue that requires our intervention. With the limited resources of time and money, some people say that these valuable things should be utilized to preserve wild creatures, especially endangered ones which are on the edge of extinction. Others claim the opposite, that human is the fundamentals that we should invest our financial resources in. From my perspective, though both ideas have their explanations, I agree with the latter one.
On the one hand, protecting wild animals can be beneficial sometimes. Human is a part of a complete ecosystem where its balance can directly affect our lives, or even decide the survival of human society on the planet. For example, the demand for food including vegetables and meats go up dramatically due to the increasing number of population. If we continue to damage the diversity of wildlife, we can’t ensure food security as the negative impacts on nutrition, soil and agriculture biodiversity. Additionally, wild creatures is an important source for searching for new medication which can cure obscure disease, just like those from plants.
On the other hand, I believe the advantages of spending money and time on improving the life quality of human society are more significant. Several problems of humankind that affect directly the majority of individuals need our interventions. We can deal with poverty by using time creating plans to develop the economy of third-world countries and investing money on the most appropriate projects. Overpopulation can be addressed by educating about family planning and the ways to access contraception. Money can be used to build schools so that children who come from poor regions can have a chance to learn and gain knowledge as well as experience to seek a better career in the future. Research in the medical section to find new treatments and improve health also need to be allocated a huge amount of money.
In conclusion, we should allocate more money and time on human purposes though using financial resources for preserving wildlife is also understandable.
