What are your opinions on this?
Nowadays, supermarkets are stocked with food products around the world. Some people would argue that importing food products from an external country should be prohibited. I completely disagree with this viewpoint and will discuss the reasons in this essay.
The main reason why I believe that is because this behaviour can be detrimental to a country’s economy. Even though domestic goods are the primary contributor to a nation’s economy, however, it also benefits considerably from international food exchange. For example, Vietnam is known as one of the largest rice exporters in the world. Without exporting, the unsold rice will likely expire if not consumed. As a result, farmers will suffer from this loss and will not be able to pay tax to the government.
Another reason is that soils, weather conditions of a country determine what types of products can be produced. Therefore, different countries have different native crops and fruits that can not be found in other parts of the globe. For instance, Vietnamese supermarkets have various types of exotic fruits such as American grapes and apples. These fruits have their distinctive flavours which attract the curiosity of Vietnamese people to try them out. Therefore, these imported products bring beneficial impacts to a country.
To conclude, I believe that international food trade brings many benefits to the wealth of a country since this exchange makes a great contribution to a country’s economy and brings diversity to the domestic food market.
