Some people think that the government should ban dangerous sports, while others think people should have the freedom to do any sports or activity. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Nowadays, the media are providing us with a barrage of dangerous sports accident headlines, which raised a controversial matter about whether our authorities should forbid extreme sports. While some people support that idea, I believe that people should be free to do any sports and activity. And this essay will address both sides of the argument.
Most people who favor prohibiting life-risk sports tend to focus on the deathly risk of such activities. Although those joining dangerous sports are always prepared with the right equipment and proper training, they would have to face a high risk of injury or even death. For example, one investigation between 2000 and 2011 shown that extreme sports reported four million injuries and lethal cases, and base jumping holds the highest death rate 1 in every 254 jumps. Besides, the tragic outcome caused by extreme sports accidents may leave psychological traumas to the families of those who took part.
In contrast, I completely agree with the opinion that joining in dangerous sports should be a matter of choice and preference. First, freedom is a fundamental element of human rights. Dangerous sports should not be banned because everyone has the right to play any sport and do any activities that they wish to. Nobody can stop another person with the passion of playing a sport, so it makes no sense to put extreme sports under restriction. Second, it is the fact that overcoming the fear and physical challenge can create positive effects on the mental and physical practice of one person. People often claim that they feel proud, stronger, and more determined after executing dangerous sports.
In conclusion, while it is true that extreme sports can be risky, fatal, and lead to some unexpected consequences, I would argue that the decision to ban any sport should be made with great consideration.
