It is argued that having the same teacher for several years do good for students while others think that students should have new teachers every year. Personally, I believe both of these ideas are beneficial in some ways.
On the one hand, having the same teacher over years is likely to have good impact on pupils. Being taught by the same teacher year by year, students get familiar with the teacher's method of teaching and learning so they do not have any difficulty in studying. And if they have problems, it is easier for them to discuss their affair with a teacher they have known for years. Furthermore, the teachers are able to assess the students'study results and give feedback properly if they teach their students for such a long time. Apparently, the teachers know clearly what students' strengths and weaknesses are. As a result, they can adjust the ways of teaching and learning materials which are suitable for their students to help them make progress in study.
On the other hand, it is undeniable that changing teacher every year is good for students. Each of the teachers has their own distinctive teaching methods and knowledge,so they can instruct the students in many different ways, which means students get to access different ways of learning and make choice of what suit them most. Also, it is an excellent opportunity for everyone to broaden their social contacts at school when they have a lot of teachers.
In conclusion, I agree that having the same teacher for a long period of time has its own merits but being taught by a variety of teachers is also advantageous.
