Some parents believe that cellphones are harmful to children, while some others disagree. Discuss both sides and give your opinion
Few parents hold the opinion that mobile phones pose a danger to children, whereas others think it's necessary for their children to possess a portable phone. Even though mobile phones are beneficial in many ways, I firmly believe that they can be held responsible for certain unpredictable mishaps also.
On the one hand, parents provide their children with cell phones as a safety measure. Whenever children find an incoming danger, they can immediately alert their parents, hence avoiding perils. Also, parents can get a good understanding of their child’s location, making them stick to the desired schedule. Moreover, messages and calls exchanged can at times, be considered as evidence to solve crimes. Parents can save their innocent children from being legally punished in crime through the chats and calls they made, which prove otherwise. In a recent incident, a college girl in India, raised an alarm by calling her father when she suspected the mysterious behaviour of a group of men, thus saving her from gang rape.
On the other hand, there are chances that children can misuse the benefits provided to them. A phone with an internet connection provides penetration into almost everything, some of which might not be suitable for specific age groups. In addition, too much use of phones can keep it on mainstream and thus deviate away from studies. Young adults can get addicted to all sorts of heinous activities such as porn, violent video games, and gambling. Take for instance the recent blue whale game which claimed the lives of the contestants who made it to the final round. Also, getting addicted to mobile phones result in having dire health issues amongst children. They can suffer from poor eyesight, fatigue, or sometimes obesity which can, later on, result in depression.
To recapitulate, some children use portable phones as their parents allow, considering that phones will safeguard them in dangerous situations, whereas I strongly advocate against the use of cell phones in early ages as this can have disastrous outcomes that might result in unhealthy addiction, health hazards and deviating from education.
