
The line graph compares changes in three types of crime in the centre of Newport city over the 9-year period.
It is noticeable that the number of incidents causing by three different areas of crime decreased dramatically between 2003 and 2012. However, robber and burglar had been seen more than another one.
In 2003, about 3500 incidents reported were caused by burglary which was the higher rate of crime than just under 3000 car theft incidents. The number of theft from the person was by far the least figure, at over 500 numbers.
Over the following five years, the number of burglary cases fell significantly, to just around 1000 cases, wherease the figure for car theft was the highest though it decreased slightly to around 2000 numbers. By 2012, the number of robbery remained stable about 500 cases, while the figures for car theft and burglary rose gradually to about 2500 and 1500 respectively.
