Essay: People living in large cities today face many problems in their everyday life. What are these problems? Should governments encourage people to move to smaller regional towns?

Today everyone wants to live in a large city because of numerous benefits. However, people living in urban areas encounter many difficulties in their daily lives. Air pollution and frequent traffic jams are the two main issues that they face, but there are several remedies to them.

Two major difficulties which people of large cities confront: air pollution and traffic congestion. Many people prefer to own vehicles and do not travel in public buses or trains. Thus, traffic on roads increases significantly; many people do not reach their office or colleges on time. For example, it is reported that every third person owns a car in Istanbul, a capital of Turkey, as a result of which they encounter daily traffic jams. Another drawback is the air pollution that arises due to too many vehicles, planes and trains. They emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere since they are run on petrol or coal. Consequently, people suffer from respiratory illnesses.

The question arises whether government should persuade people to move to suburbs in order to reduce problems. I do not think so because most regional areas lack proper educational institutes or hospitals. Obtaining proper education and health facilities are the fundamental right of every citizen. If people are not educated properly, they will end up with low-paying jobs. More than 50% of citizens, for instance, are jobless in Kartarpur, one of the villages of India. Similarly, people may fall ill, or die in the worst case, if they fail to receive better health facilities and the government will have to incur additional expenses on them.

In conclusion, people who live in major metropolitan cities face numerous issues in their everyday life. But, the state should not encourage them to relocate to regional areas due to inadequate educational and health institutes.
