Please Review My Essay For Writing Task 2 [ Agree or Disagree ]

Topic: In some countries, an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is, therefore, necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food.

Do you agree or disagree?

My essay:

It is argued that the government should rise a higher tax on junk food because of the increasing number of health risks associated with consuming this kind of food. This essay agrees that a higher tax rate should be paid by fast-food companies. Firstly by raising the tariff on junk food, the local authority can invest health care system and secondly, a higher tax rate causes junk food's price more expensive which could stop people from eating them.

The money raised from taxes could be invested by the government to improve the health care system to treat people who have health risks associated with junk food. By increasing the tax paid by the fast food company, the government can use the revenue to provide some free treatments to help people who suffer from health issues associated with junk food. For example, Canada has held some public sessions to give people advice about how to eat healthily.

Increasing the tax on junk food would raise their price and lower consumption. Most of the consumers of fast food are people who are in the lower class of society, and could not afford a pricey meal. Because of raising the tax rate on fast food, the company needs to increase the cost of fast food to make revenue, which makes their consumers stop eating junk food. For example, some local authority levy a tariff on alcohol which increasing their cost has led to lower consumer and better general public health.

In conclusion, this essay supports that the local authorities should levy a tariff on fast food because of its negative effects on public health. Moreover, the revenue that comes from junk food companies ought to be used to improve the healthcare system. In addition, those companies will increase the price of their products which will lower the number of their customers.
