Essay:
Nowadays, it is imperative to know driving. In many countries, 18 years is a legal driving age. According to some people this is a good development, while others opine that the legal driving age should be increased up to 25 years. I believe, letting youngsters drive from age 18 is a correct rule.
There is no harm in believing the driving skills of an 18-year-old. At 18, a youngster is quite qualified to be called as an adult. To make a teenager independent and to make them independently run their errands, it is necessary for them to learn driving. They cannot be dependent on their parents for their everyday commuting needs. Also, making them drive on their own will instill a sense of responsibility and independence in their minds.
On the other hand, the debate of increasing a legal driving age to 25 does not hold any water. No one is arguing with the fact that, at 18, youngsters can sometime be seen as immature and rebellious. Better said, many of them do not believe in adhering with the rules and can often be seen breaking the law. However, not everyone should be punished for this. It would be good if parents and teachers, guide and help youngsters, in cultivating safe driving habits. A right guidance will certainly be a solution to the hazardous rash driving habits, which youngsters love to indulge in.
In conclusion, it is agreeable that youngsters do not understand the importance of safe driving at the age of 18, but it is uncertain that they would learn this when they will reach the age of 25. Hence to address the safety concern, it is imperative to make youngsters realise the importance of safe driving. Increasing the legal age to 25 is not a solution.
