Please review my essay for IELTS

Essay prompt:

With a growing world population one of the most pressing issues is that of feeding such a large number of people. Some people think that GM foods offer a viable solution to this problem.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Write at least 250 words.

Increasing population and their increasing need of food are the burning issues for governments. According to some people genetically modified food is the solution to feed the increasing population. In my opinion, this is not a reliable solution.

First, not all countries possess the knowledge and resources for such projects and one of the reasons for this could be lack of funds. Many countries where population is the pressing issue are caught up in managing the basic healthcare and education facilities for their population. In some parts of the world governments are even failing to provide clean drinking-water to their citizens. In such scenarios, project of this extent seems impossible.

On the other hand, many western countries seem keen in projects like this. According to World Care report, some of the European countries are even planning to implement GM food projects into action by the end of year 2022.

Although such plans seem promising, scientists are yet to confirm the adverse effect GM food might have on human health. Also, some part of the world seems against such inventions and they still invest considerable amount of their resources in traditional agricultural practices. Hence even though scientist and some part of society claims the benefits of genetically modified food, it will take significant amount of time to practically implement it.

In conclusion, even though GM food might seem as a possible solution its practicability is yet to be discussed. In my opinion governments around the world should till then invest its resources and time in population control and they should also make their citizens understand the importance of controlling food wastage.
