In recent years, the tendency of choosing to live alone has been increasing in many countries and has remained a dilemma question whether it is a positive development or not. Although many arguments show that it is better for society because every people can have their independent life, I personally think that this trend’s drawbacks are completely outweigh advantages.

At first, living alone engender people to involve in problems in both mental and physical health. In North European countries, such as Sweden and Denmark, the percentage of international students, who are living alone, committing suicide are remarkably higher than students having roommates. This phenomenon is a compelling evidence for the fact that living alone often results poor effects to mental health of human, causing them to engage in psychological issues easier than the rest of society. Furthermore, living with friends or families can also an effective way to help people avoid severely physical health issues. Students in Vietnam, for example, tend to choose to stay with roommates because they can help each other whenever having diseases or other problems with physical well-being.

Additionally, living alone engender accommodational problems to many areas in modern world, especially big cities. In order to have enough accommodation for the increasing demand of citizens, many governments have been struggled to find solutions. This is a result of the trend that more and more people like to find personal private houses, increasing the demand of housing and stressing to every attempt of governors. In addition, the high demand of housing also triggers the higher prices of accommodations and the increasing number of homeless people, who cannot afford to rent a house. In Ho Chi Minh city, for example, the average price for a studio apartment has surpassed the peak of threefold higher than the respective price 30 years ago, when the living alone tendency was not a popular trend in this city.

In conclusion, I personally think that the tendency of living alone is a negative development and it can damage severely to both this person and the entire society.
