Crimes committed by young people are increasing in major cities throughout the world. Discuss the causes and how to solve this problem?

It is true that youth crime is a growing issue in many parts of the world. From my perspective, it is possible to identify some of the causes, some measures could be taken to deal with this worrying trend.

It is clear that in the mass exodus of people from the countryside to the cities, it is often the youth who feel the greatest sense of alienation. In other words, they arrive with high hopes of finding a good job, earning a lot of money and buying all those consumer goods which are advertised everywhere. As a result, they are soon disillusioned with the reality of city life, which delineates the unemployment and poverty, resulting in resorting to crime to escape it. Another reason to support this in idea is that lack of social bonds. For instance, the social relationships in big cities such as New York, London, and California could lead to the feeling of isolation, which does not exist in the rural areas. Therefore, young people without instruction from parents and other adults could easily turn to crime and drugs.

However, there are several solutions to reintegrate young people back into the community which could be easily identified. One major measure is to provide the youth with well-paid jobs improving the urban infrastructure. The government should invest money for education and urban renewal schemes rather than drug trafficking. Also, providing urban facilities for young people, for example sports centres, music studios and funding for city youth to make a fresh start through educational opportunities. Less neglect will result in less crime.

In conclusion, some causes of rising crime rates among young people in major cities could be observated, but some solutions could be applied.
