The belief that artificial intelligence will rule over the world is the most controversial one. This is because there is no data or research providing evidence that implicates robots would have the ability to do so, but there are still many who strongly believe in such a future.
How much do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your opinions.
1 I admit that smartphones are convenient but we could use them a lot less.
I totally agree with the idea. First, the built-in internet capabilities of smartphones enable access to an infinite amount of information, free long-distance communication or even paying bills at the push of a button. In addition, as virtually all smartphones are pocket-sized, their owners can easily carry the devices everywhere. However, many people are overusing it, thus, spending less time on necessary real-life activities such as exercise and face-to-face conversation.
I don't know what I'd do without my car's satellite navigation system. It's the most useful innovation ever. I'd quite literally be lost without it!
I somewhat agree with the opinion as nowadays, especially in major cities, the street networks are overly irregular and complicated. Most of the time, a map of a metropolis is just like a maze, which only adds to the confusion, and the built-in satellite navigation system in cars is much more helpful.
3 In my opinion, technological advances have gone too far and have become too expensive.
I mostly disagree with the opinion as while there are certain recent technological devices that are overly priced, many developments in the field actually not only make our day-to-day lives and agricultural and industrial activities more easily but also help scientists to take enormous steps in the fields of medical and surgical treatment. Artificial intelligence, for example, is adopted widely in the healthcare system and proves to enhance patients’ well-being by minimizing human error; in 2005, a technology-enabled pharmaceutical company called Atomwise found two drugs from existing medicines that are predicted to be able to reduce Ebola infectivity by using AI.
