In their advertising, businesses nowadays usually emphasise that their products are new in some way.

Why is this? Do you think this is a positive or negative development.

In recent years, advertisers routinely accentuate the new functions or appearances of their products. Presumably, there are two primary justifications for this, and this is certainly a positive development.

The first principal reason is that businesses would be negatively affected if they were not to make attempts to propagate their new upgrades. This is because customers would not be aware of the new development, leading to two potential problems. First, they might have no motivation to purchase or try new products or services, so they keep using the old ones. This will discourage companies from generating revenues, putting them in jeopardy of being bankrupt and shuttered. Second, customers would eschew businesses not advertising their new development in favor of businesses that do. As most improvements are home to accommodate certain demands of the customers, customers can be provided with more sense of gratification. Apparently, when this occurs, businesses will lose their competitive edge, and then they might be put out of the market.

This is clearly a positive development due to the fact that it helps bring numerous benefits to customers. By strenuously advertising new functions or appearances, companies create competitiveness among each other; when companies advertise an innovative development of their products, their rivals would immediately start researching and upgrading that improvement. As an example, it is common to observe that almost every new improvement of certain brands of smartphones such as apple is always imitated by other brands. This can be demonstrated clearly by the feature that allows people to use their hands instead of keyboards or pen to use their phones. Thus, placing emphasis on the new upgrades of the products would help perfect products in the market and hence increase the customer’s experience.

In conclusion, I believe that the main reason why businesses always underline their new development in their product is that it helps companies to generate revenues. And this is a positive development since it is beneficial for customers.
