Task 2: Some people think that hosting an international sports event is good for the

country, while some people think it is bad. Discuss both views and state your opinion.

Many people argue about whether to organize a global sports event. While some claim that it wastes a huge financial burden, I admit that there are many advantages for the host: reputation and development in different fields of the country.

An entirely clashing idea however declares that to host one international physical games event is to pay a lot of money for improving the high quality of the stadium, the accommodation of foreign guests, and the security of surrounding areas, not to mention other extra costs, cause the anger from residents. In particular, Russia spent at least some tens of billion dollars on The Winter Olympics in 2014.

However, the positive points outweigh the demerits. It can raise the country’s status and prestige in the international arena. When the media informs about the event, the nation is also well-known and attracts an enormous number of tourists who come to encourage their adored sportsperson or team. As a result, the government can make up for their lost expenses, promote the economy and tourism. For instance, China became famous for their mascot, Panda in The Winter Olympics 2022 when this product was sold out as they were too adorable.

Balancing both views, I am partial towards the upsides due to these kinds of Olympics can partly raise our awareness of doing exercises to have a healthy mind and body.
