Task 2. : Computers are being used more and more in education and so there will soon be no role for the teacher in education. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The revolution of digital device has changed our life in many aspects, especially in teaching. This trend led to the belief that computers would replace the teacher’s role in the teaching process. I strongly disagree with the aforementioned statement becasue I believe the teacher has more responsibility than teaching which computers are not able to tackle.
Computers are the most powerful device, especially in education. However, they are only generated to perform information and not directly transmit those knowledges to their users. Meanwhile, teaching is an interactive process and consists of many human activities in a form of discussing, testing, explaning, answering, some subjects also requires a physical exertions. Because of those differences, applying computers in teaching only is not proper in any case.
Additionally, computers can not manage students effectively as they don’t have a ability to discipline when their pupils have unwanted behaviours. No one can ensure that students would understand or truly pay attention to the lecture since there is only an electronic device. For instance, students could easily play games or chat with their friends without afraid of being recognized. In a long term, I believe this new teaching method would make their academic results go down significantly.
To summarize, computers allow users to access to lots of valuable informations throughout the internet but, it is clear that using a computer is not an applicable teaching method compared to traditional teaching. Also, the crucial roles of teacher is still prevailling because of many potential issues that can occur with computers.
