Some people say that outdoor activities bring benefits to children’s development rather than computer games. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people think that in contrast to playing computer games, spending time playing outdoors is beneficial for children’s development. I wholeheartedly agree with this opinion.

First, outdoor recreation improves children’s social life. when being out in nature, children get the opportunities to form relationships with each other. For example, if parents let their children play in the park with other kids, then soon enough they may make friends with each other. By contrast, if children spend the majority of their time playing computer games, then they may become socially awkward later, which can be carried over into their adulthoods. Therefore, spending too much time playing computer games can sabotage children’s development.

Second, spending time outdoors helps to improve children’s mental and physical health. When playing computer games, children only assume certain postures and stay still for hours, which can adversely affect their backbones. Playing outdoors, however, entails a variety of body movements. Flying a kite, for example, may require children to run and to control the kite. In fact, activities like this can strengthen their muscles and increase their healthy blood flow. Furthermore, children who play computer games regularly are likely to be nearsighted or have other eye problems. This is because while staring at computer screens for hours, their eyes would feel dried and fatigued, and later on, their visions would be reduced.

In conclusion, spending time outdoors is probably better than playing computer games. This is because it helps children to make friends with others. As well as this, it also yields benefits to their physical and mental health.
