Whether or not someone achieves their aims in life is mostly a question of luck. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people think that having enough luck is a decisive factor to make someone successful in realizing their goals. I partly agree with this opinion because I think luck is only part of the equation. In order to fulfill a dream, one has to avoid distractions and be committed to their goals.

Seemingly, Having luck is undoubtedly important for someone who wants to achieve their goals. To illustrate this, even if someone has an extraordinary talent but has to live in an environment where it is impossible for them to realize their potential, then their ability will be squandered. By contrast, if people get to train in an environment that spurs them to keep honing and developing their special skills, then they may accomplish much more in life. Mozart, for instance, was a music prodigy who was born into a musical family and got to learn and played music at a very young age.

However, apart from having luck, people also have to relentlessly follow their dream and avoid distractions. It appears that a gifted person can easily be distracted and give up on their aims if they are not determined and strong-willed enough. This can be exemplified in the case of Macaulay Culkin. Although being extremely successful in the main role in the movie series “Home Alone”, he has ended up being addicted to drugs. That is to say, as talented and lucky as he was, he is unable to avoid distractions and ultimately has to abandon his career as an actor. Therefore, having luck is not enough for people to fulfill their goals.

In conclusion, I partly agree with the given premise because I believe aside from having luck, people have to tirelessly follow their dream and avoid distractions to realize their dreams.
