In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry. Why is this the case? What can be done about this problem?

The development of technologies and farming practices has greatly increased crop yield, yet many people around the world still suffer from hunger. This problem can be seen in countries with a dense population. In order to tackle this, I think the politicians in these countries should impose policies to reduce the birth rate.

To start with, populous countries usually suffer from pollution and poverty, and this causes the problem of food insecurity. On average, each individual produces above half a kilogram of garbage per day. Therefore, when there are too many people, the amount of trash discarded per day is enormous. And this, when combined with irresponsible behaviors, can make many lands fertile and rivers contaminated, thereby enabling people to produce foods. Furthermore, a dense population also leads to the problem of poverty. This is because the job market will be outrageously competitive when there are too many candidates. As a result, many people will be unemployed and unable to afford to buy food.

Fortunately, this problem can be addressed by imposing policies to reduce the birth rate. To do this governments can apply the two-child policy. This means families are not allowed to have more than two children. In reality, this move has been proved to be efficient in many countries such as Vietnam; fewer children in the family allows Vietnamese parents to have more financial freedom, which means parents can buy more wholesome foods for their children. Also, this policy can mitigate the problem of pollution and employment. It can help more people to get a better education and therefore be more responsible for the environment. As well as this, employees will find it much easier to get a job as they do not have to compete with too many others.

In conclusion, I believe a dense population is to blame for the problem of food deficiency, and the way forward is to impose policies to curb the birth rate.
