Please review my essay

Describe an interesting animal that you have ever seen:

Well, first of all, I am a self-professed animal lover. I love caring for them, watching them and feeding them. So, it kind of hard for me to talk about one specific animal that I find interesting. But if I have to, I would choose Koalas, the most adorable animals and the symbol of Australia.

Well, I think I should start off by telling you about how I know the animals. As you may know, about a year ago, Australia was going through one of the worst bushfires that have ever been recorded. Actually I was distraught when I first saw many people, especially animals suffering on the news. And among the animals being harmed, Koalas were the most vulnerable animals as they cannot run as fast as Kangaroos. They stuck in the bushfires, hopelessly waiting for help. Fortunately, some lucky Koalas were saved by local residents and firefighters, but most of them were in serious condition. They were dehydrated and some of them have their paws and claws burned while escaping from smoldering trees. Honestly. It seems that I really vicariously experience the disaster just by watching it on TV. It was so surreal.

After watching and reading the news, seeing the animals suffering, I decided to know more about Koalas. I searched for them on Google and I found thousands of videos of them dying and seeking help. And there was a video of them approaching cyclists for a drink of water, which is pretty heartrending.

You know, Koalas are really endearing, charismatic mammals with greyish fur, fluffy ears, and oval-shaped noses. Interestingly, their lifestyle is quite lethargic. They spend most of their time sleeping and only go out whenever they feel hungry or find their soulmates. And when being attacked, they just hide and not attempt to offend. Well, anyway, I hope in the future, I would get to see them in person.
