Prison is a common way in most countries to solve the problem of crime. However, a more effective solution is to provide people with a better education. Do you agree or disagree?
Today the majority of nations use incarceration as a means of addressing the problem of crime. Nonetheless, some people argue that this problem can be solved better by providing people with a better education. From my perspective, I disagree with this statement because I believe the reason why people commit crimes is not because of their lack of good of education and creating a better education requires a long period and is expensive.
The main reason why I think offenders should be given custodial punishment is that I believe one of the motives behind every criminal activity is the nature of wrongdoers rather than their academic abilities. Some villains are even ready to commit heinous crimes for just their personal gratifications. For example, Lee luyen is a notorious offender who commits numbers homicides just because of instant gratification. In fact, this villain has excellent academic achievement. Therefore, incarceration is a more effective way to combat crime than a better education.
Another reason why I support the notion that segregating criminals from societies is a better way to combat crimes than giving people a better education is that any changes in the education systems mean concomitant changes in the pedagogical methods. This process requires a long period to research and is costly. In other words, better education can only help to tackle the problem of crime in the long run, while crime is rising relentlessly, thus, this approach seems to be ineffective. Meanwhile, incarceration act as a deterrent to potential offenders, hence, reducing the numbers of crimes more effectively.
In conclusion, I completely disagree that giving a better education is a more effective solution to combat crimes. This is because one of the motives behind criminal activities is the nature of offenders and creating a better education is an extremely long-term and expensive approach to tackle the problem of crime.
