Working life has undergone changes, and this entailed both threats and challenges for employees. Hence, they cannot rely on having the same pattern of work and working conditions. This essay discusses the reason why this happens and suggests solutions for the problems.
To start with, technological change is the cause of this transformation. Today technological advances minimize the need for manual and labour-intensive jobs. As a result, many employees have been made redundant. Therefore, those people find it is risky to keep relying on the same work. It is reported that manual jobs have been replaced by robots in Japan, making Japanese blue-collar workers change their work and some of them unemployed. Additionally, office equipment has been superseded by cutting-edge technologies, changing the familiar work conditions of white-collar workers. Consequently, employees who lack technological skills are at risk of being dismissed.
However, this problem can be addressed by informing employees about up-to-date development. By implementing this initiative, workers can be proactively prepared with essential skills and knowledge, enabling them to acclimatize themselves to the new type of work and working condition. Dealing with this issue also involves training workers with technological skills. For example, today Vietnamese manufacturing workers are trained with computers skills such as typing which can help them to land another job in case their jobs would be replaced by technologies.
In conclusion, the advances in technologies are the main cause of this problem as it replaces human jobs and requires workers to be equipped with technological skills. The viable approaches to deal with it are informing employees with the newest development and training them with technological skills
