To all the teachers and mentors in this forum, I appreciate what you do here. From the bottom of my heart, a big thank you to all of you.

Art is considered an essential part of all cultures throughout the world. However, these days fewer and fewer people appreciate art and turn their focus ton science, technology and business

Why do you think that is?

What could be done to encourage more people to take interest in the arts?

It is commonly believed that art plays a fundamental role in society as artists are able to express their thoughts and their culture in their work. However, less people are becoming interested in art, and instead, they are more focus on science, technology and business. There are several causes of this development, and I think that awareness-raising campaigns will make people more interested in art.

Firstly, I believe that the main reason why people, especially young people, do not appreciate art is that many of them find it tedious and dreary, whereas technology is more appealing to them. Art, for them, is outdated and non-fashionable. For example, my nephew would rather spend his time studying technology and the internet than learning how to paint. For him, information technology excites him and painting does not.

Another point to consider is that many people argue that art could not be used for their future careers. On the other hand, studying science or even business can be a step in the right direction as far as gaining and securing a decent job in the future. Indeed, our society has many artists who are not making enough money and are impoverished, while many of those who focused on science, techonology and business are financially stable.

Tackling this issue involves altering the public's mindset. This needs to happen via awareness-raising campaign. The Art Channel in Kerala, India, for instance, launched one such initiative with The Art and Your Bright Future TV series, which presented the lives of several successful artists. Given the impact of this series on the people of Kerala, it would be worth expanding it to other communities. In addition to inspiring people to pursue art, such projects could also provide them ideas on how to have a steady income as an artist.

In conclusion, the reasons behind the people's disinterest on art are that it is boring and that it will not result in a decent living in the future. I suggest that we should change the public consciousness in order to promote art.
